Job Description

This will be achieved through utilizing Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Momentum™ Automation Workflow software and will include testing & troubleshooting of automated robotic systems integrated with laboratory instruments to defined specifications. As a member of the project team, you will contribute to the successful on-time completion of assigned lab automation projects. By gaining an understanding the customer’s lab workflows, you will optimize the processes to operate in the most efficient and consistent manner to help deliver reliable quality results.What will you do

  • Provide early input into the project plan in regards to risks and schedule based on the scope and complexity of project requirements
  • Liaise with the customer to ensure workflow requirements are fully understood and documented
  • Provide suggestions and highlight any concerns to the project team including; Designers, R&D Software/Hardware, and Project Managers
  • Research and develop automated customer workflows in advance of installations
  • Install and configure software required to operate the automated systems
  • Assist in mechanical assembly and integration when required
  • Teach movers and multi-axis robots utilizing Thermo Fisher Scientific’s software
  • Work independently at the customer’s site, ensuring that the installations progress on schedule and to the agreed requirements while keeping the customer and the project team informed of status or issues
  • Test and troubleshoot the automated system to successfully achieve factory and/or site acceptance test approval
  • Optimize the robot/mover motion and workflows for efficiency and consistency
  • Complete post-SAT cleanup and back-up the finalized system for archiving purposes
  • Provide basic training and familiarization of the automated system to the customer
  • Participate in peer training amongst the Integration Team
  • Ensure systems are integrated according to best practices and defined standard operating procedures
  • Lead and/or assist in developing standard protocols and methods for software integration
  • Provide feedback to the Operations and R&D teams to help drive and implement continuous improvements
How will you get thereMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • University degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical, or related field of study. Minimum College Diploma is required.
  • 5 years’ automation integration experience with hands-on teaching & setup of robot arms
  • 2 years’ in a role directly interfacing with customers in a professional environment
  • Experience integrating laboratory instruments considered an asset
  • Troubleshooting techniques
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined
  • Strong software and networking understanding
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Organization, planning and time management
  • Professional presence both with the customer and internal departments
Other Requirements:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Passport
  • Ability to travel globally 30-40% of the time with up to 2 - 3 weeks duration continuous
  • Position may require Covid-19 vaccination, including a booster and/or routine testing, per client discretion. As a requirement to be onsite at Thermo Fisher Scientific this position requires vaccination status disclosure upon employment.
