We have been exclusively engaged to find a CFO (Chief Financial officer) for a tech-driven insurance company.At the intersection of tech and insurance, this client is using data, automation, AI and bold thinking to revolutizise the underwriting process across the insurance industry. To power this transformation, we #39;re on the hunt for a future-focused finance leader to own the numbers, drive process innovation, and lead a high-performing team for their Canadian operation.What You #39;ll Be Doing

  • Lead monthly and quarterly close across GAAP and STAT frameworks-ensuring precision, speed, and strategic alignment.
  • Elevate the accounting systems, automation, and processes that scale effortlessly.
  • Deliver solid financial reporting and insights-think board-ready, audit-proof, and regulator-smart.
  • Architect a high-integrity internal control environment that supports both innovation and accountability.
  • Partner with actuarial and ceded re teams to streamline and optimize reinsurance operations and reporting.
  • Track evolving accounting standards and translate them into practical playbooks for the business.
  • Write and evolve accounting policies that reflect where the business is going-not just where it #39;s been.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, ops, tax, investments, and tech teams to fuel smarter decisions.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives from new systems to org redesign-whatever it takes to futureproof us.
  • Lead a talented finance team with empathy and clarity, mentoring high-potential talent while keeping delivery razor-sharp.
Desired Professional Qualifications and experience:
  • A deep, technical foundation in insurance financial reporting and accounting-you speak both fluently.
  • Extensive experience leading statutory reporting and regulatory filings in insurance or reinsurance environments.
  • You #39;ve worked hands-on with complex reinsurance programs and know how to make them flow.
  • A leadership style that #39;s collaborative, empowering, and execution-focused-you roll up your sleeves when needed.
  • Demonstrated success in navigating fast-paced, multi-entity or global environments.
  • Experience leading or partnering on finance system upgrades, migrations, or greenfield implementations.
  • Strong analytical instincts, always looking for thequot;why quot; behind the numbers.
  • Excellent communication skills-you can simplify the complex and influence across all levels.
  • You #39;re tech-savvy and agile with tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and modern ERP/reporting platforms.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA, CA or similar license.
