Job Description

The RoleWe are currently searching for a Manager, Payroll for a Permanent Full-Time opportunity, reporting to the Director, Payroll and Benefits.Location: our staff based out of corporate office have not returned to the site at this time, however the intention is to continue having staff work remotely with partial visits into the office in near future indefinitely. Join us to continue to create a fun and genuine work culture that really feels like your second family!What You’ll Be DoingManage the timely and accurate processing of the weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, LTD and quarterly payrolls, this includes:the collection of time and attendance data for bargaining unit and hourly paid employees throughout the provincesediting and correcting the datacalculating final payroll and weekly pay depositsprepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wagessubmitting and reconciling remittances to various government bodies, including CRA and Workers CompensationPerform quality assurance review of all payroll edits to ensure accurate and effective use of the HRMS systemAssist with payroll audits by Internal, External and Government agenciesReview payroll related legislation and implement changesEnsure payroll processes support the TBS and BDL collective agreementsInstill employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidentialAct as an ongoing liaison between HR & HRMS departments on all payroll related matters and coordinate payroll resources for ongoing system support, testing, project management and maintenance (examples, tax updates, system issues, minimum wage increases, new CBA changes…)Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of payroll year-end, including T4’s and T4A’sEnsure all year end reporting is completed accurately and on time for TBS and BDLImplement Union wage increases in accordance with the CBA guidelines, as well as government mandated minimum wage increases, and ensure all employees are paid properly and on-timeEnsure annual merit increase and incentive payments for non-union employees are paid properly and on time; run payroll simulation to ensure accuracy and minimize challengesRecommend, write and update policies and procedures related to payroll operations, interfaces and securityDevelop and implement proper internal control systems to maintain accuracy and integrity of dataDevelop Standard Operating Procedures for Payroll and ensure proper documentation is prepared and maintained for all payroll processesMake recommendations on HR department processes and procedures to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of the systemWho You Are - Your Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceCertified Payroll Manager (CPM)7-10 years of general HR and Payroll background in a large, unionized environment3-5 years in a leadership roleStrong understanding of Income Tax Act, Provincial Legislations as they relate to Payroll, and Provincial Employment StandardsSAP Success Factors and Workforce Software experience would be an assetUniversity degree or equivalent in BusinessExcellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills are essential along with strong technical, analytical and problem-solving abilitiesStrong project management skillsAbility to think strategically and develop plans to support business directionsAbility to collaborate with others to develop actionable plansDemonstrated leadership and team building skills, aptitude to coach and mentor direct reportsApplication Deadline: ASAPApply today so we can get to know you better!Equal Opportunity EmployerWe are committed to providing a respectful and empowering workplace that values our greatest resource, our people.
