We currently operate across Simcoe County and the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound.If you are a Outreach Worker who is passionate about building stronger, healthier and more connected communities, we want to talk to you.GENERAL FUNCTION:To develop and deliver the YMCA Early Childhood Educator Assistant Training Program for adult learners. Areas of service would include job development, employer recruitment, employment readiness, stress and anger management, positive communication skills, self-confidence building as well as, life skills and independent living. Provide outreach, follow up support and assistance to clients. Develop and facilitate group programming on topics identified as needed to assist Participant and employers. Develop and Facilitate specific ECEA programming. Conduct outreach and liaison in the community to local childcare centres, Participants and Participant serving agencies. The Y adopts a model of support based on the following frameworks: harm reduction, model of change, determinants of health and developmental assets.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain high quality program in accordance with YMCA standards and best practices, participant needs and Association strategic directions.
  • Monitor and maintain high participant retention through the delivery of exceptional programs and services.
  • Monitor and maintain high employer retention by fostering positive rapport, proactively identifying employer needs/supports and ongoing collaboration to ensure long-term program success.
  • Detailed management of program budget, including Participant wages, supports and employer reimbursements.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with funding partners, mentors, and other community partners through ongoing reports, communication and visits.
  • Prepare and coordinate all monthly reports for the program, including court reports if applicable.
  • Actively participate with the supervisor and community partners (probation officer, case manager, etc.) to assess the Participant needs and develop a case plan based on the individual’s needs and mutually agreed upon goals with the client.
  • Provide individual and/or group counselling for Participant.
  • Provide counselling and advocacy services to Participant at various locations throughout the service region as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist at-risk clients to determine appropriate service delivery or client vocational limits.
  • Prepare clients for success through facilitation of individual counselling or group workshops
  • Effectively manage a caseload, completing case notes following each contact, setting appropriate job priorities consistent with the various government ministries and department.
  • Consult with social services and community agencies to ensure effective coordination and provision of services.
  • Participate in case conferences or consultation where appropriate.
  • Ensure all administrative duties, reporting, and file management, are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Exercise sound judgment in making decisions which affect the welfare of Participant clients.
  • Work with Participant facing multiple barriers, including those in crisis, on a regular basis, at times in isolated situations.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-Secondary Education in Social Services, Child and Youth Worker or combination of education and work experience
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education is an asset.
  • Program facilitation experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ related work experience
  • Counselling experience both one-on-one and in a group setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of community systems and resources
  • Experience working with Participant facing barriers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including letters, memos, reports and presentations
  • Life Skills Coaching certificate an asset
  • Leadership management an asset
  • Healthy Adolescent Development training an asset
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Mandated training (including AODA, Workplace Violence & Harassment, Health & Safety Awareness, Child Protection, PCI Compliance, etc.) is required before or shortly after commencement of work
  • Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Must be able to work flexible hours based on client needs
