Home:Southbridge Care HomesLocation: OntarioPosition:Programs Consultant Southbridge Care Homes owns and operates 26 Long-Term Care Homes and 8 Retirement Homes throughout many urban and rural areas of Ontario. Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a Recreational Programs Consultant to deliver support and expertise to our portfolio of LTC and Retirement homes. Reporting to the Vice President of Operational Excellence, the Programs Consultant will be responsible for partnering with operational leaders in LTC Homes and Retirement Communities to enhance resident experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and passion for senior care by delivering high-quality leadership support to our homes.In partnership with the Operations division of Southbridge Care Homes, the RecreationalPrograms Consultant will have the following responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the design and implementation of standardized education and training for roles related to Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy, and social/activities programming.
  • Teaches and trains new, existing, and returning staff (e.g., front line Program/Recreation staff) and leaders (e.g., Program/Activity Managers) on policies and standard operating procedures including but not limited to Resident Programs and any other regulatory and quality assurance standards for LTC Homes.
  • Leverages adult education methodologies to meet the diverse learning needs of staff and leaders in the Homes.
  • Provides support for operational decision making related to improving the experience for residents through recreation and social activities.
Qualifications:
  • Current registration as Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or relevant regulated health profession and in good standing preferred.
  • Health and/or recreation undergraduate degree required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in progressive positions in Therapeutic Recreation or Occupational Therapy, or resident recreation programming preferably in LTC Homes.
  • Working knowledge of relevant health information systems (e.g., PointClickCare, provincial information repositories, etc.) is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and apply legislative, regulatory, and quality assurance frameworks related to Long-Term Care.
  • Excellent people skills in consensus-building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Membership and active participation in professional organizations an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Passion for resident and family-centred care, culture change and service excellence.
  • Extensive travel required.
