Your RoleIn both Southwestern Ontario and Clavet Saskatchewan, the Ruminant Nutritionist will work with other Nutritionists, the Ruminant Business Manager and Sales Representatives in the development and support of feed formulation for Dairy, Beef and Small Ruminants within our Ontario, and Western Canada Mills.Utilize Ration Balancing Software to adjust and build feeding programs that will meet the performance expectations of our customers, health, welfare, and economic requirements as well as the strategic objectives of the Company.Work closely in collaboration with the Quality Assuranceamp; Quality Control Team (QA amp;QC), Procurement Team, the Mill Operations to ensure our compliance with all regulatory requirements.Collaborate and interact with Procurement in questions regarding optimal ingredient utilizationwithin market conditions to provide innovative product and /or ingredient solutions. Be proactivein initiating and managing research projects that provide competitive advantage to the company.Day to Day
  • Ruminant feed formulations (dairy, beef, small ruminants) for Ontario and Western Canada operations.
  • Follow up regulatory questions, quality issues and customer complaints based on ourcompany’s QA amp;QC and Feed Assure Program.
  • Review Lab Data information and nutrient profiles of ingredients for regular updating.
  • Maintain economic competitiveness of ruminant feed formulations – working closely with purchasing team members to review impact of ingredient availability on formulation.
  • Technical support for Sales and Marketing (both from the office and in the field).
  • Development of workshops, technical bulletins, and marketing material.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Animal Science
    • ​​​​​​​Candidates with a Bachelor in Animal Science but great experience in the field will be considered.
  • Experience in Ruminant Nutrition and Feed Formulation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of feeding and management on farm.
  • Knowledge of the principles of feed manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of the principles of sampling and interpreting feed and ingredient lab analyses.
  • Strong analytical skills with a desire to learn.
  • Good communications skills, able to participate and interact with other members of the team and provide good customer service.
