Job Description

Job Summary:The Junior Specification Writer will play a vital role in assisting with the development of project specifications for healthcare facilities, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with industry standards.This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or entry-level professional to gain valuable experience in specification writing within the architecture and design industry.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior specification writers and project teams to develop accurate and comprehensive project specifications for healthcare projects.
  • Assist in reviewing project drawings, plans, and design documents to identify appropriate materials, finishes, and construction techniques.
  • Research and select suitable construction materials, products, and systems for healthcare facilities based on project requirements and industry standards.
  • Draft technical specifications and construction documents using standard specifications software and tools.
  • Ensure that project specifications adhere to building codes, regulations, and healthcare industry guidelines.
  • Collaborate with architects, interior designers, engineers, and consultants to integrate specifications seamlessly into project documents.
  • Review and update master specification libraries to ensure current and accurate information for future projects.
  • Participate in specification coordination meetings to communicate technical requirements to project teams.
  • Assist in reviewing product submittals and shop drawings to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new construction materials, and advancements in healthcare design.
  • Support other documentation tasks as needed within the architecture design practice.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Entry-level or up to 1 year of experience in specification writing or related construction documentation roles.
  • Familiarity with specification writing software, such as MasterSpec or similar tools.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials, finishes, and products relevant to healthcare architecture.
  • Understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable to healthcare facilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness in specification development.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with project teams.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive attitude in supporting specification development.
  • Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D visualization tools is a plus (optional).
