Job Description

DescriptionParkland County has a temporary, full-time position available within the Planning & Development Services Department for a Planner I working from approximately August 2022 to August 2023. Reporting to the Senior Planner, Current Planning, the Current Planner I is primarily responsible for managing, reviewing and making recommendations for decisions on current planning applications to the Subdivision Authority. This position requires a high degree of professional responsibility in processing of subdivisions, non-statutory plan amendments, and statutory plan amendments. This position is also responsible for processing civic addressing requests, providing information to the general public, and providing project support. The successful candidate must possess the ability to manage time effectively, juggle multiple deadlines and tasks, and to work within irregular and tight timelinesQUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related discipline required. Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners and Alberta Professional Planners Institute is desired.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience required in the understanding and application of Provincial and Municipal planning policies, legislation, processes, procedures, and Statutory Planning documents in the Alberta context.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to create graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and/or computer graphics is highly desirable. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and computer assisted design (CAD) applications is an asset
  • Excellent skills in presentations to Council, community associations and government departments as required.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta drivers license and satisfactory driving record is required.
Rate of Pay: $65,344 to $81,60 per annumHours of Work: 7 hours/day 35 hours/weekBenefits: Extensive benefits are offered including an option to join our Earned Day Off Program.Quick Apply
