Job Description

Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Development Compliance Officer in the Planningamp; Development Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Development Planningamp; Safety Codes, the Development Compliance Officer primarily manages the investigations of land use complaints. This position liaises with residents, business, community partners and departments to provide educational outreach, public awareness, and execution of Parkland County Land Use Bylaw. The Development Compliance Officer may also assist and support other County departments with related bylaw and safety code investigations and inspections.The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • A Post Secondary Diploma in Land Use Planning, Bylaw Enforcement or related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of related Municipal Enforcement or Planningamp; Development experience in Land Use Bylaw including knowledge of the Municipal Government Act.
  • Strong verbal and nonverbal communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.Must possess exceptional customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate with members of the public.
  • Strong writing, presentation, negotiations and organizational skills with ability to effectively handle changing priorities.
  • Must be proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
The total rewards package for this position includes: A starting annual salary of $74,800-$93,500, commensurate with education and experience, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
