Job Description

Company DescriptionPRT operates a diverse network of nurseries in Canada and the United States enabling us to grow a wide variety of high-quality container forest seedlings for all climatic and site conditions. Annual production of 340 million seedlings makes PRT the largest producer of containerized forest seedlings in North America. We produce trees for customers from British Columbia to Ontario and Michigan to Alabama to Oregon.Job DescriptionPosition Summary:As an integral member of the forest seedling nursery worker team you will carry out activities related to Nursery operations. These can include - general labour tasks from simple cleaning to semi skilled carpentry, minor carpentry work, production line work, repetitive greenhouse work thinning and weeding, helper to maintenance specialist, No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. Tasks can include the following:

  • Palletizing boxes of seedlings/ hand loading of semi trucks of boxes of seedlings.
  • Capable of lifting up to 45 lbs. to shoulder height
  • Flexibility with changes to work scheduled tasks
  • Thinning – piece work potential (March-July)- Priority 1
  • Weeding (as needed)
  • Seasonal work available; Lift worker – various tasks on rotational basis fast paced (June-July and Nov-Jan)
  • Assist Maintenance workers with infrastructure and equipment repairs
  • Laborer that Pushes benches for forklift operators and many other various tasks
  • Work is mostly outdoors or in heated greenhouses – temperature extremes
  • Assist with blackout program – involves part time evening hours at various times of year pulling poly cloths over rows of trees
  • Maintaining a continuous focus on safety, injury prevention, and customer service in all aspects of production work.
Seasonal - Full time or part time hours availableQualificationsQualifications:
  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the position which includes standing for lengthy periods of time, walking, repetitive lifting, (light to medium weight objects), and performing repetitive movements
  • Ability to get along with others, work independently and as part of a team
  • highly motivated workers can earn $$$ with piece work opportunities in certain tasks
  • Reliable transportation required not accessible by public transit
  • Reliable and motivated to work

  • Hourly rate is $16.40, with opportunities to earn more through piece work.
