In 2015, WISI acquired Inca Networks, now operating as WISI America. WISI America’s R&D facility produces industry-leading video transcoding and monitoring platforms.The Role:We’re looking for a local, talented and motivated Software QA Test Engineer (Co-op) that can help us reach our goal of achieving 100% CI/CD test & deployment automation of our carrier-grade video transcoder product that executes in the data centers of cable/video providers. Our ideal candidate will be in their final year of school with an interest in eventually pursuing a career as a software developer. Youll work closely with a team of talented software engineers, and youll gain experience testing embedded firmware with hard-real-time execution requirements, as well as front-end UI applications. Youll apply black-box, white-box and chaos engineering methods, using test automation & scripting technologies like Jenkins, Python, and Selenium.The company is located in Pitt Meadows, BC a suburb of Metro Vancouver.   • Data driven. You believe in using measurements to assess and improve product quality and robustness.
  • Have solid computer science fundamentals. Youll be able to read and understand the code that youll be testing, including asynchronous operations and multi-threaded code.
  • Meticulous about documentation. Youll naturally document your own code sufficiently well so that your successor will be able to understand, maintain and extend it.
  • Driven to be better. You love learning industry best practices and how to apply them to your own work.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop test automation infrastructure & tools. Write test cases and scripts to automate deployment and test.
  • Monitor and report product quality improvements or regressions through numeric measurement.
  • Investigate test failures and provide defect reports to developers for resolution.
  • Work directly with developers and QA Lead to invent and implement new ways to test product robustness.
Requirements:
  • A 4th year (final year) student, ideally with an interest in pursuing a career in software development (as a software developer eventually)
  • Undergraduate Major in computer science or engineering
  • Experience with Python, Java, Bash scripting and C/C++ required
  • Experience with Golang would be an asset
  • Experience with real-time embedded programming would be an asset
  • Experience with CI/CD tools would be an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Local - Greater Vancouver area
