The goal of the PFN is to preserve the culture, values, and language of the Pacheedaht people while strengthening community infrastructure, social wellness, community unity and self-governance. The PFN has four reserves on 174 hectares of land within its traditional territory in Port Renfrew, 80 km from Victoria, BC. The Pacheedaht people are estimated to number 286, including 100 members living on reserve. Port Renfrew is also a popular tourist destination for outdoor activities, such as hiking trails, exploring beaches, surfing, kayaking, camping, and fishing.Description of the Position:

  • The Receptionist is an important part of the Health Department team. You are the first person that people will interact with when they are coming into the Health Care Building. You will be working with your colleagues to help deliver health and well-being services to the members of Pacheedaht First Nation and our neighbors.
Reporting Structure:
  • This post is in the Health Department of the PFN and will report to the Health Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet & welcome people as they arrive at the Health Care Building (HCB)
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls
  • Promote basic Covid-19 protocols, prevention and control practices
  • Maintain supply of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at front door of HCB
  • Assist people with COVID screening questions
  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email/FB, including information related to COVID
  • Assist in developing and supporting food security supports
  • Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable
  • Maintain building security by following safety procedures and ensuring all doors/windows are closed and locked at end of workday
  • Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, faxing, etc.
  • Tidy kitchen, main entrance, sanitize high touch surfaces, & laundry daily
  • Maintain clinic days appointment schedule
  • Notify/remind clients of appointments as needed
  • Maintain HCB booking calendar, accept/return damage deposit as required
  • Keep a list of items needed for purchase – kitchen sundries, stationery, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Health Director
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven work experience as a receptionist or a similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, or willingness to learn program
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g., Fax machine, photocopier, printers, etc.)
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize
  • Customer service attitude
  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Valid BC Drivers License not required, but an asset.
