Job Description

WASTE DIVERSION COORDINATOR (Permanent, Full-Time)NATURE OF POSITION: Hiring one (1) Permanent, Full-Time position of the Waste Diversion Coordinator available in Environmental Services.The Waste Diversion Coordinator works in the Waste Diversion and Disposal section of Environmental Services. This role coordinates, plans, and implements programs and initiatives required to meet the diversion goals and objectives of the Solid Waste Management Plan. Under the general supervision of the General Manager of Environmental Services or their designate, the Waste Diversion Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning and implementing waste diversion programs at the Regional District solid waste facilities and other related assignments.The Waste Diversion Coordinator oversees the yard and garden composting facility operated at the Foothills Boulevard Regional Landfill facility ensuring compliance with the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation.The Waste Diversion Coordinator has considerable contact with regulators, contractors, consultants, external agencies, volunteers and the public. This role is both technical and operational in nature and requires considerable knowledge of best practices, operations and staff development.RATE OF PAY: $40.95 per hour (January 1, 2024 rate)DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS: As set out in the Collective Agreement with C.U.P.E.
