Job Description

Status:OpenWestCorp Solutions is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to support our Client in Rocanville, SK. The successful candidate will meet the below requirements.The general work includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Provide safety leadership, advice and mentoring to the project management team.
  • Provide and/or participate in site orientations.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor safe work practices.
  • Assisting in the selection of contractors based on their existing HSE programs and past performance and upgrading contractor’s safety.
  • Working with the contractors and project team to develop HSE execution plans for each contract based on the risk assessments.
  • Ensuring that contractors have verified that equipment and machinery brought on the Project site are properly maintained and meet the safety standards generally accepted by industry or set by the project. Also ensuring that equipment and machinery that is taken underground meets Client safety standards for underground use.
  • Participating in the investigation of all accidents, incidents, near misses and non-compliance.
  • Provide safety coaching to contractors daily.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of work areas.
  • Track and monitor trends and assist in corrective measures.
  • In field JHA checks/safety discussions.
  • Reporting:
  • Completion of provided coaching forms as required;
  • Daily Interaction Report;
  • Daily/Weekly updates/reports as part of the daily/weekly progress meetings; with the Project Manager and Owner Safety Department.
  • Day to day Safety responsibilities as required.
  • Facilitate the monthly capital project management team safety meeting as provided from the Client
Requirements:
  • Qualified is defined as certifications in one of more of the following:
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
  • Canadian registration of Safety Professionals (CRSP)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • With two to four years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.
