Job Description

Administrator

  • Full-time permanent
  • Saint Andrews, New Brunswick
  • Position starting in Feb/ March of 2023
  • HR/ Finance and Leadership experience
  • Previous long-term care or hospital environment an asset
Located in the historic seaside town of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, this private, not-for-profit, 60-bed (Level 3) licensed nursing home delivers 24-hour care by dedicated staff whose mission is to provide a safe, caring home with excellent nursing care to the residents.Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Administrator is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations in accordance with the strategic plan established by the Board.With exciting changes on the horizon, the Administrator will lead the strategic plan managing the cultural and physical transition for residents and staff while moving from the existing facility to a proposed new facility that focuses on person-centered care.Daily Responsibilities Include:
  • Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day activities in accordance with the by-laws and policies of the Board and applicable Acts and regulations
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of Managers and unionized front-line employees in implementing the facilitys operational plans and the longer-term strategic plan
  • Ensure the highest standards of care for residents by creating a positive and supportive workplace
  • Maintain open communications and supportive working relationships with residents, their families, staff, and volunteers
  • Provide effective budget management to safeguard the financial resources
  • Ensure that licensing requirements and standards are always met
  • Report as required to the licensing authority and other authorized agencies
  • Report regularly to the Board with respect to operations or special directives of the Board
  • Assist in the development, regular updating, and implementation of the Board’s long-range strategic plan
  • Update policies and suggest changes to policies when they no longer serve the organization or the employees
  • Apply for and maintain any national or sector certification or accreditation status as directed by the Board
  • Work effectively with outside parties, including government officials, consultants, private contractors, or other public or private agencies.
Education and Skills Required:
  • Post Secondary Education: a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Project Management Professional (P.M.P) is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills. i.e., Microsoft Office
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
  • HR-related functions including recruitment, hiring employees and conducting disciplinary actions
  • Previous finance management experience including but not limited to budgeting, cost control, and accounting
  • Experience in the nursing home or other long-term care sector, the health care sector, or related facilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers
  • Good communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Flexibility to pivot and adapt to changing priorities quickly
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Staying informed of current issues in the sector and having a working knowledge of the standards and policies in place.
