Reporting to the Manager, Benefit Payment Services, you will be responsible for the overall benefits management of an assigned Industry sector and will be the primary financial decision maker on regular loss of earnings, gradual return to work and long-term disability benefits for injured workers. You will also be responsible for 12-week, or annual wage reviews and Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal (WCAT) / Decision Review Office (DRO) appealable decisions. Your ultimate goal is to complete authorizations to ensure timely and accurate payments while adhering to legislation and policy. You will provide direction and guidance on the interpretation and weighing of evidence as it pertains to legislation, policies, work instructions, directives, and leadership on the verification of loss of earning benefits including average earnings prior to final authorization. The focus of this position is to work closely with our Support Clerks and Claim Owners to apply an in-depth understanding of the client’s claim, processes, and services. This position will be located within the province of New Brunswick.Your key areas of responsibility include:• Being fiscally responsible to complete the review and authorization of benefit payments ensuring that each payment is completed in an accurate and timely manner adhering to WorkSafeNB policy, procedures, directives, and legislation.• Delivering technical expertise and accountability for the integrity of the financial transactions. Providing support and direction on weighing of evidence and interpretation of policy, procedures, and legislation to support effective execution of benefit payments.• Ensuring cross-divisional collaboration to provide direction and counsel on the execution within policies and procedures affecting the financial decision-making processes.• Fostering an exceptional client experience by communicating with injured workers and employers, ensuring that both sides of the conversation are respectful, open, honest, and timely.You embrace the following competencies:• Adaptability• Client Focus• Accountability• Teamwork and Collaboration• Analytical Thinking• Attention to Detail• Decision Making• Legislation and ComplianceYou, as a successful candidate, possess:• A Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting with two years of relevant work experience.
