We encourage all qualified persons who share our values and want to contribute to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace to applyThe Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Community Coordinator for the Connection NB Project in Miramichi, NB. This pilot project is aimed at reducing social isolation and improving well-being in older adults in various communities in New Brunswick. If this sounds like you, we invite you to keep on reading and apply!In collaboration with the Project Manager, Connection NB, the Community Coordinator will be required to engage with various stakeholders in the community, and will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and supervising volunteers in the Connection NB program as well as receiving referrals and registering participating older adults.In this role, you will:

  • Promote volunteer recruitment initiatives to achieve set targets within the province;
  • Develop and lead volunteer teams through training, coaching and performance management, engagement opportunities and recognition;
  • Coordinate volunteer scheduling with participating older adults and ensure that the volunteer has proper systems and tools for their visits with participants;
  • Manage program referrals and register older adults in program; monitor progress throughout program;
  • Engage with community members and local stakeholders to build knowledge of local programming;
  • Build trusting relationships between Red Cross, partners, and the community;
  • Support other Red Cross initiatives, as needed, to provide for a coordinated team effort to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the community.
We are looking for:
  • A post-secondary education in a related field plus three years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in English is required. French is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including handling interactions with the stakeholders, participants, volunteers and colleagues;
  • Strong demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), various databases, as well as mobile devices (ie: tablets);
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail skills;
  • Previous experience working with volunteers and the ability to supervise is considered an asset;
  • Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel within province. Ability to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract. Access to a vehicle is mandatory.
Working conditions:
  • This is a full time position until 31-Mar-2024. Possibility of contract renewal;
  • Hybrid position, combination of home-based and in-office work, with frequent travel around Saint John area;
  • Travel to other locations in New-Brunswick is also expected;
