If this sounds like a work environment youd thrive in, you might be a great fit for our team!We are currently seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join our team based in Saint John, NB office.Type of Position: Full-Time, PermanentClose Date: Monday, November 22, 2021The OpportunityThe Desktop Support Technician will work independently supporting our Saint John office and will collaborate with IT team members Firm-Wide to provide high-touch technical support to members operating at all levels of the Firm.
  • Work with team members to provide exceptional client service & support to end users for desktops, laptops, virtual machines, dictation devices, printers, mobile devices and peripherals
  • Prioritize and respond to incoming helpdesk tickets, calls, emails, meetings, and projects in a fast paced environment
  • Perform analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end-users and recommend and implement corrective solutions
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software
  • Identify and escalate situations that require urgent attention
  • Assess the need for and implement performance hardware upgrades to PCs including additional memory and replacement hard drives
  • Collaborate with senior team members to ensure efficient operation of the firms desktop environment and for items that are beyond area of responsibility
  • Contributes to the teams knowledgebase and documents changes and new procedures
  • Setup and support of mobile devices including iPhone and Android
  • Works with security products including mobile device management, multifactor authentication, encryption and more
  • Perform moves, adds, and change requests as required
  • Setup and troubleshoot IP based telephones
  • Manage and continually update an inventory of all IT assets
  • Liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors as necessary
  • Maintain an adequate stock of spare parts to support the existing desktop environment
  • Conduct research on desktop products in support of PC procurement and development efforts and evaluate and recommend products for purchase
  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs
  • Hands on with job duties such as working under desks, running cables and renovating work areas
  • Participates in a scheduled on-call rotation which may require afterhours and weekend work
  • Adheres to the Administrators Security Policy including the User and Network Security Policy
  • Other duties as assigned
  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent work experience in the field of Information Technology required
  • A+ or Microsoft certification a definite asset
