About UsIncorporated in 1955, Ocean Steel has grown to become one of the largest steel fabricators in Eastern Canada and one of the most respected steel suppliers on the Eastern Seaboard. It services several markets, including all of Canada, the Eastern United States, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Ocean designs, fabricates and erects structural steel for buildings and bridges. It also manufactures and installs platework, such as breechings, stacks, ducts, penstocks, process & storage tanks and custom process-equipment. Ocean Steel has two, modern New Brunswick-based plants in Saint John and in Fredericton. We currently have sales offices in Saint John, New Brunswick, Brampton, Ontario, and Burlington, Massachusetts.Job SummaryThe Logistics Coordinator is responsible for making sure all necessary materials are received on time and to specification for project execution. Duties of the position include developing and implementing procurement policies and monitoring supply chains and transportation of materials. Through consistent time management, the Logistics Coordinator can help expedite production process and efficiency within the fabrication plants. The ideal candidate should have industry-relevant experience so they can make reasonable estimates when it comes to production management and the ordering of raw materials. This is a position that requires a desire to develop and maintain relationships both internally and externally with key stakeholders .Responsibilities

  • Act as point of contact with material and transportation suppliers
  • Continuously monitor current supplier list, contracts, and vendor price fluctuations, identifying potential new suppliers as needed
  • Escalate the pick-up or delivery of materials/product based on project schedules
  • Develop vendor qualification standards and processes including negotiation for price and lead time
  • Follow up with vendors/suppliers as needed to ensure delivery schedules are kept on time and on budget
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop schedules and manage logistics
  • Support planning of the overall business and alignment of coordinated projects
Technical Requirements
  • 1-3 years procurement / logistics experience, preferably within the steel or manufacturing industry
  • Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions as they relate to procurement and / or logistics
  • Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Office
