On top of that, we realize it takes world-class people to run world-class operations so we offer competitive total compensation packages.The OpportunityThe Mobile Shop Manager ensures delivery of the highest quality equipment maintenance, repair and technical services while meeting all applicable standards and requirements in terms of safety, quality, timelines and cost. The Acting Team Lead provides direction to the Foremen and Longshore personnel to meet short- and long-term production and maintenance goals.In This Role, You Will:
  • Ensure that the requirements of the working shift are fully met in an efficient and safe manner in accordance with current safety regulations and health and safety policies.
  • Responsible for the overall efficiency of mobile shop operations, including coordinating the various activities of different groups to maximize the efficient utilization of manpower, equipment and resources and ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective operation of all equipment and assets.
  • Responsible to oversee the planning of maintenance work orders, repairs and servicing of all machinery and equipment.
  • Provide leadership and direction to maintenance staff.
  • Create and maintain schedule for adequate supervision on all working / stand by shifts.
  • Liaise with Operations to ensure all equipment issues are addressed and all facility assets remain at optimal operating conditions.
  • Maintain and improve relationships with ILA.
  • Work on special assignments and projects as required.
What You Bring To The Role
  • A university degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Self-starter with a positive, hands on approach and the ability to work in a high pressure environment as part of a team to meet operational and engineering needs/deadlines.
  • Proven commitment, reliable work history and flexibility to meet requirements of a 24/7 operation.
  • An excellent manager of people with well-formed motivational skills, including solid negotiation, influencing, change management and labour relations skills.
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills, including the ability to work with all departments and levels.
  • Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership to quality standards/ initiatives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mobile container handling equipment and maintenance requirements, this includes thorough knowledge of modern reliability and maintenance best practices, including IT-based asset management systems.
  • Good working knowledge, including troubleshooting skills with diesel engines, gearboxes and hydraulics
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, computerized maintenance management systems and industrial control software.
  • Fluent in English
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries
