GFL Environmental is looking for an Operations Coordinator to join our growing team out of our Saint John, NB office. This position is responsible for coordinating projects/waste sites. The incumbent will oversee a variety of tasks including coordinating equipment maintenance, setting up of projects/waste sites, supporting quotes, providing customer service, and ensuring overall project organization.Key responsibilities· 50% will be field work and 50% will be at the branch· Manage day to day project/waste equipment ensuring all equipment and systems are maintained in good working order, including pumps and hoses· Direct report will be Maintenance Coordinator· Take a lead role in Safety by completing and reviewing Vital 9’s, FLHA, Site Audits· Audit all GFL sites weekly· Manage MX4 monitors and equipment· Weekly bin and drum audits· Responsible for reporting month inventory counts and order additional supplies and safety books as necessary· Provide budgetary quotes for customers· Collect and package waste samples· Lead jobs and ensure operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures with a significant focus on health and safety· Schedule training for Ashburn operators· Submit requests for PO and PO increase· Afterhours /weekend work when required (example TA / Major project)Knowledge, skills and competencies· High school diploma or equivalent experience· Class 5 driver’s license requirement or class 3 would be considered an asset· Previous experience within a waste management or industrial environment· Skills and ability to guide, direct and provide technical expertise to less experienced operators and field staff· Ability to work 12 hour shifts (days and nights) and overtime as required· General mechanical aptitude· Knowledge and training in applicable regulations and legislation – Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, Fall Arrest, First Aid, Fire Extinguisher Training, H2S Alive, Confined space entry/Rescue, Scott SCBA/SABA Course and Online courses· Capable of performing the physical requirements of the role which includes shoveling, heavy lifting and climbing· Excellent interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication skills;· Positive demeanor and customer service focus· Health & Safety mindset· Ability to work under minimal supervision and take a leadership role when required· Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite· Legally eligible to work in CanadaThis is a safety sensitive position.
