Job Description

JOB TITLE: Pre-Press OperatorDATE: 2022LOCATION: Italic East - Saint John, NBDEPARTMENT: ProductionREPORTS TO: Pre-Press & Workflow Manager________________________________________________________________Job SummaryThe focus of this position is primarily on ensuring that all pre-press tasks are executed daily to meet our clients’ needs and deadlines. This role will service both our New Brunswick office as well as our head office in Toronto.Key Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Primary Responsibilities

  • General pre-press tasks including PDF proofs, variable data merges and assisting clients with basic layout and design
  • File creation and editing using Adobe CS software
  • Receiving files and checking them against job specs
  • Generating soft proofs based on client needs
  • Liaising with customer service department as well as directly with clients to ensure client needs are met with regards to file work
  • Organizing supplied and working files on the network
  • Generating imposed print files based on the processes and materials
  • Supplying final print files to production departments (internal and external) in a timely manner
  • Creating and managing organized file libraries for repeat work as needed
  • Developing and enforcing standards and practices for the pre-press department in coordination with management
  • Working with production and customer service to improve standards and procedures for prepress and file handling/organization
Italic East Site Responsibilities
  • Acting as our in-house lead on file preparation for the Color-Dec processes at Italic East location (training to be provided)
  • Developing and enforcing file preparation standards and practices for the Color-Dec processes
  • Assisting the production team as needed
Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills - ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of printing and bindery processes
  • Prepress file creation and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to follow standards and procedures
  • Proficiency in use of Adobe Creative Suite software

Experience
  • 2-5 years of relevant working experience
Typical working conditions and physical demands
  • Office setting; this is not a remote position
  • Production environment; some duties may include frequent lifting of materials up to 50lbs
