The ideal candidate for this role must be a Registered BIA Counsellor with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and have experience in administering counselling. The successful candidate will work a hybrid schedule averaging a minimum of 3 days per week in-office and 2 days per week from home.As a Specialist, Debt Solutions (Bilingual) your responsibilities will include:

  • Administer first and second counselling sessions to clients as required by the BIA
  • Assess clients’ budget plans and financial goals
  • Deliver an excellent and empathetic experience for the clients’
  • Complete counselling sessions by telephone, video and in person when required
  • Travel to other offices to meet with clients, if required
  • Reviewing monthly income and expense reports;
  • Communicating with clients, creditors and other third parties;
  • Other duties as required.

  • Candidates without their counselling certification must have 3 years’ experience or 30 post-secondary credits and a willingness to pursue certification
  • Ability to speak French is a must
  • College diploma in Business Administration or a related field preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients and liaise with team members
  • High computer literacy including the ability to learn new programs and previous experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed the Estate Administrators course (a plus)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to compose various documents and speak effectively with clients, staff, and other third parties in-person, on the phone or in a virtual meeting environment
