The days will be filled with “fun” activities that are focused on reading and writing, along with math, science, music, and arts and crafts. Books will also be donated to all participating children to bring home.Your main responsibilities and major duties:

  • Weekly and day-to-day planning, organizing, and leading activities with children
  • Affirming, encouraging, and motivating all children
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children
  • Managing challenging behaviors
  • Maintaining required records on a daily and weekly basis
  • Setting up/tearing down the tent and program materials daily
  • Ensuring adherence to all program directives and guidelines
  • Ensuring that the site is kept organized, safe, and clean
Skills, Attributes, and Requirements
  • Proof of full COVID vaccination will be required to do in-person work with Frontier College
  • Be mature, punctual, responsible, energetic, creative, and able to work with little supervision
  • A positive, patient, friendly, and approachable disposition
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities
  • Enjoy working with young children. Previous experience is a bonus
  • Experience or interest in the fields of education, teaching or community programming
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • The ability to work and play outside all summer and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Strong English speaking, reading, and writing skills
  • Provide a current Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen prior to the start of employment (if 18 years old and older)
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
