Job Description

Progressive and diverse agency hiring Transitional Shelter Workers/ Emergency Shelter WorkersProgram Overview:Provide supportive, non-judgemental care to youth ages 16-19 who are experiencing homelessness or do not have access to safe and secure housing. Our program takes a low-barrier, housing-first approach and provides all services with a trauma-informed lens. We ensure all clients are treated with dignity and respect. We work in collaboration with the youth we serve and seek creative solution. We recognize the importance of giving every client the opportunity to have a voice, that their feelings and opinions are heard and validated, and they are given the opportunity to make decisions and carve their own path. Employees must be compassionate, caring, motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment. We place a strong emphasis on forming positive, healthy relationships while also maintaining professional boundaries.Weekend availability is required.Job duties:· Supervise clients, focus on relationship building· Accompany clients to appointments, when required· Work collaboratively with other non-profit agencies, service providers· Documentation, data collection· Facilitate admissions and discharges· Assess risk: De-escalation and crisis-intervention· Light housekeeping & laundry· Occasional meal prep· Seek creative solutionsQualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in related field
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Willing to be trained in First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
Candidates are required to provide full proof of vaccination against COVID-19, or a valid medical certificate exempting them from the vaccine.
