St. Stephens University seeks an experienced leader in an academic setting to fill its upcoming opening in the role of University President.At St. Stephens University, we believe that studying the humanities is a vital source of healing in the world. Through asking lifes biggest questions in a small, supportive community, we aim to develop the whole person so that our students can become effective agents of change in their communities and the world. Our students learn how to think critically, how to engage with injustices in society, and how to find themselves in the wider story in order to begin to really truly understand others perspectives. Through our online and modular graduate programs (Theology & Culture; Religion, Peace & Justice) as well as the Bachelor of Arts undergraduate program, St. Stephens University is fostering and developing deep-thinking, creative, and engaged citizens of the world.ResponsibilitiesThe President, in collaboration with senior academic and administrative leadership, is responsible to oversee all aspects of the university including the overall management of the university and the execution of its shared mission and vision. Key responsibilities include networking with existing and potential donors and stakeholders, overseeing financial and internal operations, inspiring and supporting the university community, collaborating with the deans to continue to provide excellent humanities education at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in the academic vision of SSU in a way that honours the diversity of the university community, and inspires further growth and development.The selected candidate will have keenly demonstrated that they possess the following strengths and skills:Inspiring & Implementing Collaborative Vision: leading and focusing the university community and its stakeholders towards the school and programs missionPeople Management: overseeing staff and facilitating effective teamwork in an encouraging working environmentFinancial Management: managing a $1.2m+ budget with business acumenNetworking: making effective connections to promote SSU to a wider audience, raising its regional and international profile while nurturing existing stakeholder relationshipsStrategic Thinking: seeing the bigger picture and direction of the university, as well as identifying and overseeing the practical steps needed to achieve further growthOperations Management: characterised by good judgment followed by productive action, with the ability to face significant challenges and obstacles with energy, wisdom and creativityQualificationsCompletion of a graduate degree in Liberal Arts, Organizational Behaviour, Administration, or related fieldTen years leadership experience in an academic settingEnthusiasm for the universitys mission and programs and ability to elicit genuine enthusiasm from othersExcellent communication skills in writing and presentingExcellent organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to manage logistical details with precision and efficiencyPost-secondary teaching experience would be considered an assetDemonstrated experience in leading organizational change would also be an assetConsideration may be given to comparable levels of education and/or experienceWork With UsThe successful candidate can expect:An office on-campus, with the option of performing some work from homeA fast-paced, nonprofit culture overseen by a Board of GovernorsA small and mighty team of coworkers.
