Employment Type: Full-Time (Permanent)Department: Housing Support ServicesUnion: ExcludedFile #: 24-HSS-05 (2 OPEN, Full Time)Posting Date: March 11, 2024Posting Close: March 25, 2024Location: 65 Dundas St. EastThe Site Supervisor is required to work Monday to Friday, day shifts from 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M or 7:30 to 3:30 PM or Monday to Friday, evening shiftsfrom 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM or 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM Reporting to the Manager, Case Planning and Housing Support, the Site Supervisor is responsible for providing supervisory and operational support for the Community Worker team and the day-to-day operations of their assigned portfolio. They will also be responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment for all clients and staff working in the department.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, direct and monitor the effectiveness of all operational activities of the assigned portfolio.
  • Participate in and lead committees and task groups as required.
  • Provide input on the development of the annual operating plan for the department as required.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Community Worker team and ensure the following of standard operating procedures.
  • Build consistent processes and compliance to House Rules and Housing Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide supervisory support to the running of a 24/7 Community Support Worker team.
  • Provide leadership and ensure effective team functioning with the Community Worker team.
  • Support the implementation of building programming and collaborate with 65 Dundas management in building operations, programming and tenant support.
  • Support the community worker team to implement and lead in programming and food delivery as needed.
  • Provide weekly and monthly team supervision and support and participate in the case planning processes in collaboration with the 65 Dundas St E management team.
  • Assist with on-call duties on a rotational basis.
  • Where appropriate, support the development of community partnerships with other service providers and other community agencies to address issues of service delivery and policy development.
  • Participate in the development of the annual department budget.
  • Adhere the Expenditure and Accounting systems outlined by the Finance Department.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the site and ensure effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures in assigned portfolio.
  • Manage the payroll responsibilities for assigned portfolios.
  • Manage property management issues and liaise with the Property Management Team
People and Culture
  • Engage with People and Culture department for recruitment, orientation and for all labour relations matters for employees in the assigned portfolio.
  • Address and manage all employee performance and behavioural issues in a timely manner within Collective Agreement timelines.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor employees in the department.
  • Establish clear goal setting with department employees through annual performance evaluations and outline expected outcomes and time frames against which performance will be reviewed.
  • Manage disciplinary actions within the department in accordance with process and timelines set out in the collective agreement.
  • Consistently applies terms of the collective agreement within the department.
  • Ensure that all employees within the department understand WSIB claim process and importance of return to work’ measures to avoid lost time claims.
  • Monitor all active WSIB claims within the department and ensure ongoing efforts are made to facilitate early return to work.
  • Train, orient, supervise, and evaluate staff
Organizational Accountability
  • Work collaboratively with other Dixon Hall staff and departments and volunteers.
  • Operate in an effective, efficient and client focused manner to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of the Occupational Healthamp; Safety Act and Fire Code.
  • Complete workplace incidents/injuries reports as needed.
  • Provide support to Occupational Healthamp; Safety Committee to ensure it meets all legislative requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of fire and emergency drill procedures and reviews reports to ensure follow up is completed as required.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Social Worker, or Social Services Community College Diploma, or related degree/diploma required.
  • A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience or related experience.
  • Previous experience working with people experiencing homelessness or who have challenges in obtaining and maintaining housing.
  • Emergency First/Aid CPR certification preferred.
  • Management experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated crisis intervention, de-escalation, counseling, conflict resolution, and advocacy skills.
  • Knowledge of the political, structural, and sociological reasons for homelessness and poverty in the City of Toronto.
  • Effective at building good interpersonal relationships; ability to be flexible and patient when interacting with employees, clients, peers, and volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and administrative ability, proficient in a variety of computer applications.
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity to changing situations/needs.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills; fluency in other languages will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, time management, writing, and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and work collaboratively with stakeholders and personnel from diverse sectors (public, private, non-profit, community-based organizations, resident associations, and community residents), multiple program areas, and cultures.
  • Self-directed and independent, as well as proven experience in working effectively as an inter-disciplinary team member and in collaboration with other community professionals.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
