Job Description

St. John’s, NLVOCM Broadcast Journalist – Full TimeYour VOCM, the award-winning leader in local news across our province is expanding our team of journalists. We are recruiting an energetic person with a continuous pursuit of being the best in everything you do and an interest in delivering outstanding local news coverage to a massive audience. If you get excited at the thought of being on assignment for the hundreds of thousands of listeners that call VOCM “theirs” every day, then opportunity is right in front of you.Responsibilities:

  • Researching, writing, reporting and on-air reading.
  • Developing and following up on story ideas, gathering news information and helping maintain the news website.
  • Ability to monitor social media for provincial news, traffic and weather information
Qualifications:
  • Must be willing to work any and all shifts.
  • Broad digital and broadcast journalism skills
  • Fast paced environment, must be able to adjust on the fly, work well under pressure while multi-tasking
  • Solid news judgement
  • Excellent interviewing, reporting and writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • A strong work ethic with a team-oriented approach.
  • Valid driver’s license.
