Job Description

The Community Centre Alliance’s Youth Achieve! Literacy Program is a poverty reduction initiative that aims to assist young people who want to stay on the path to high school graduation and further learning. We are seeking two (2) Literacy Tutors whose duties will include:

  • Creating a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Developing and delivering individualized learning programs with young people
  • Complete pre and post reading and writing assessments
  • Using various teaching aids to support the development of youth’s basic literacy skills
  • Maintaining detailed records and reporting related to the project and each learner’s progress (including capturing success stories, testimonials, parent
  • Liaising as required with CCA’s Youth Achieve Coordinator & General Manager, schools, and community partners
The ideal candidate will have:Bachelor of Education (equivalent education and experience also accepted)Experience administering reading and writing assessments (asset).Experience in literacy educationMust be open to a flexible schedule that includes afternoons, evenings and possibly some weekends. There will be unpaid breaks over Christmas and Easter holidays based on the school breaks. This position will be approximately 11 hours per week at the rate of $25/ hr, part-time, contractual to the end of May (possibly June) 2022.Please forward résumé, cover letter and 3 references if interested in applying for this position.Job Type: Fixed term contractSalary: $25.00 per hourSchedule:
