Job descriptionOn Canadas East Coast, ExxonMobil Canada is a leading company with working interests in three world class projects including Hibernia, Hebron, and Terra Nova, together with active exploration projects offshore Newfoundland.As a student intern with ExxonMobil Canada, you will work with a dynamic and diverse team of Geoscientists, Geophysicists and Reservoir Engineers on a project either related to our production, development, or exploration East Coast portfolio. Working with our team you will have the opportunity to learn and apply geoscience principles and techniques, contribute to our project base and present your final work to our team.Intern projects may include work related to:

  • Prospect identification/evaluation
  • Integrated seismic interpretation
  • Geologic mapping
  • Well log analysis
  • Development drilling/operations
  • Geologic model building
The selected individuals also will work at our new, open-concept office in St. John’s, Newfoundland, a space which is focused on collaboration, efficiency, safety and fun! Our St. John’s office boasts a brand new gym facility, free parking, and a large eating area on each floor to socialize with your peers and meet others in the building.QualificationsAcademic:
  • Geology or Geophysics student studying to achieve a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PHD degree in Geological Engineering
  • University student available for a work term beginning in 2022
  • Currently enrolled in a University program and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
  • Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
Other:
  • Commitment to safety on and off the job
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for all roles
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
  • Ability to apply sound scientific principles
  • Analytical problem-solving
  • Strong computer skills
