Our purpose is to future proof our cities and environments.The Opportunity:WSP E&I is currently seeking a Marine Meteorologist to join our Operational Weather Forecasting Team. Our team has over 20 years of experience providing meteorological and oceanographic services in North America and various international locations, serving our clients 24/7. We are weather, climate and ocean experts, mitigating financial and safety risk for clients whose businesses are sensitive to high-impact weather events or severe ocean conditions.We are looking to hire a candidate based in St. John’s, NL and potentially work offshore on site as a marine consulting meteorologist. The position will be supporting our Atlantic Canada marine clients with detailed consultation and customized weather services. This can be a casual or permanent position, with on and off rotations (typically 3-4 weeks on, 3-4 weeks off).   • Produce marine weather forecasts several times daily for marine clients, using a variety of tools and software
  • Provide daily briefings to marine clients to support their weather-critical operations
  • Provide high-quality meteorological analysis for marine clients who have access to WSP’s 24/7 on-demand consultation services
  • Perform an in-depth weather watch for customers and keep them informed of evolving weather conditions/hazards
  • Produce internal and external technical weather reports such as case studies
What youll bring to WSP ...
  • Bachelor of Science in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science from a program that meets World Meteorological Organization degree standards
  • 3 years of operational weather analysis and forecasting experience is required
  • Extensive knowledge of marine meteorology including seas, winds and visibility forecasting is required
  • Weather observing experience is recommended
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills, critical thinking and the ability to work under stress
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment
  • Must be able to accommodate long offshore rotations
  • Must be willing to work weekends/holidays/overtime
  • English fluency required
