Job Description

As someone with excellent communication skills and business acumen, you will thrive in our fast-paced and agile environment.Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group is looking for an interim Field Inspector in Corner Brook, NL to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.Responsibilities:What your day will look likeProject Coordination and Field Inspection

  • Manage on-site field inspections of infrastructure projects, ensuring that projects meet the requirements of contract drawings and specifications
  • Coordinate, monitor and witness required testing activities to ensure that testing is being carried out at the prescribed frequency and that the results are acceptable
  • Coordinate daily records of conditions, site activities, and work progress
  • Support contract administration as required, including the preparation of progress payments
Qualifications:What you will need to succeed
  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology would be an asset
  • Licensed to practice as a Certified Engineering Technologist, or eligible to be licensed within six months, an asset
  • A minimum of five years related work experience
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Competent in the use of a standard rod and level. The candidate will be required to regularly check pipe inverts and grade elevations (both existing and as-constructed). These survey shots are not to be provided by the contractor. Working knowledge of laser level, total station and/or GPS is beneficial but not required.
  • Comfortable with providing direction to the contractor onsite as needed through CA/PM, as required.
  • Able to keep organized notes related to daily site activities, contractor equipment used and document with photos.
Experience:Experience
  • Experience as a resident inspector on large municipal infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial standards and regulatory requirements
  • In depth knowledge of contract administration services and requirements
  • Expert knowledge of municipal servicing standards and environmental approvals requirements
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
