This position is required to work on site at the mine located approximately 80KM for Dease Lake, BC. We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George and Smithers, as well as Calgary, AB.Reporting to the Tailings Cyclone Sand Dam Supervisor to support the Sand Production, TIA Operations and Environmental Teams. The successful applicant will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift rotations.The Cyclone Sand Dozer Operator is responsible for the construction, maintenance and surveillance of the project’s 30,000 mtpd tailings impoundment facilities and associated water management systems.Accountabilities:Strong commitment and adherence to all safety policies and proceduresSafe and responsible management of all aspects of tailings operations, maintenance, and surveillanceOversee the construction and maintenance required for all tailings dam construction activitiesProvide daily work directions and optimize all field construction activitiesUnderstand overall requirements for timing of construction activities in order to meet operational requirementsWorking closely with the on-site dam construction contractorManage multiple crews and job tasksWorking closely with other departments to coordinate activitiesAssist in the conduction of inspections of all dams and related infrastructure according to the current guidelines using defined checklistsManage and assist in surveying and geotechnical lab testingManage and supervise pumping and dewatering activities within the tailings impound areaAssist in the coordination and execution of all field activities related to cyclone sand dam constructionQualifications and Experience:Minimum of 4 years experience as dozer operator in mining or heavy civil earthworksconstructionDemonstrated previous experience working with cyclone sand dam construction, operating cyclones and completing pipe workAble to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirementsA team player that works well with othersGrade 12 Diploma or equivalent is preferredOur commitment to youAt Newcrest, we hold core values that focus on caring about people, working together and achieving a high-performance culture through innovation and problem solving.Newcrest’s commitment to diversity and inclusion respects both the rights of every individual to work to their highest potential, free of discrimination, as well as the cultures, religions and governing codes applicable to each country in which we operate.If you share our values and feel that you could make a meaningful difference in this role, please apply online before the advertised application closing date.Job number 980243Advertised 17 JUN 2021
