We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.Purpose of the Role:The Manager – Site Administration & Services is accountable for the safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control and leadership of the Administration & Services Department aligned to the business strategy and goals as per the operational budget and life of province plan.Responsible for setting and driving behaviours, accountabilities, standards and frameworks to instill and maintain a business focused, high performance culture enabling continuous improvement in the delivery of:

  • Safe, reliable and optimised travel services to and from site.
  • Cost effective camp and catering operations that meet expectations in terms service quality, cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Booking and reservation services.
  • Ensuring camps, offices, access roads and related infrastructure are fit for purpose and in a good state of repair.
  • Warehouse administration, purchasing and stock controls.
  • Accommodation planning to enable deployment of construction and operations personnel for Block Cave delivery.
  • Business Partner management in alignment with contract commitments, service and business expectations.
Ensuring that activities are optimised to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and exceed safety and environmental compliance targets, meet legal, permitting and IBCA commitments so that the business operational strategy is delivered.Facilitating cross departmental co-operation and collaboration to maximise business value; ensuring site and corporate strategic initiatives are translated into successfully delivered business goals.We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.Accountabilities:Demonstrates and instills an overriding commitment to safety and health, operational excellence and cost performance for value delivery. Establishes and maintains effective systems, standards and procedures that drive positive behaviours. Ensures effective communications and collaboration across all of areas of accountability, clarity of expectations and continuous review of performance measures to consistently deliver and improve upon the business objectives.Leads, develops and maintains a business focused, high performance culture to deliver travel, accommodation, catering, site administration and warehousing services as per the Budget and Life of Province Plan through focus on duty of care, operational discipline, value creation and continuous improvement.Key accountabilities and deliverables include:
  • Ensuring the safe, healthy, secure and risk assessed execution of controlled owner and business partner activities at and in transit to or from site.
  • Championing and enabling across site and within the employee and business partner workforces Newcrest’s four pillars of safety: Newsafe, Critical Control Management, Process Safety and Psychological Safety.
  • Instilling effective safety and health management practices, processes and culture to accommodate and enable current and future operations and capital projects through the proactive identification and elimination of constraints risks and hazards to realise the company vision of zero fatalities and life altering physical or psychological injuries.
  • Provide constructive feedback to direct reports/peers on a regular basis; cultivating positive relationships within and across business areas through effective communication
  • Leading, coaching, mentoring and supporting employees and Business Partners to understand and deliver on the plan.
  • Instilling a high standard of workplace housekeeping; well maintained, safe and healthy facilities, transport and equipment, ensuring a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Ensuring that all activities in areas of accountability are executed healthily and safely in compliance with Newcrest standards, processes and expectations and in alignment with the prevailing regulatory and permitting framework. That non compliances are promptly and effectively remediated and communicated to site leadership and the regulators.
  • Developing and owning incollaboration with the department leads site travel and accommodation schedules aligned to operational and project needs.
  • Effectively managing costs and quality within all areas of accountability to ensure that cost targets are met and surpassed and that quality of execution of all works meets the expected standards and is delivered to schedule.
  • Maintaining the area specific risk registers and protocols in alignment with company standards and expectations ensuing newly identified or developing risks are effectively recorded and mitigated.
  • Guiding, mentoring and assisting team and Business Partners in meeting health, safety, environmental and performance expectations whilst respecting IBCA and regulatory commitments to deliver outcomes that meet the expected standards, schedule and costs.
  • Ensuring a culture of continuous improvement in business processes, team and individual development and activity execution is enshrined in all areas of accountability in the pursuing of value add and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with Business Partners to deliver positive outcomes to realise the business and service targets.
  • Mandating that high standards of ethical business conduct are practised and enforced in compliance with Newcrest Code of Conduct and Fraud, Anti Bribery and Corruption policies and applicable Canadian and International laws.
  • Integration and alignment of Travel and Accommodation plans and availability to enable current and future operations.
  • Providing safe and reliable travel solutions to and from site that meet operation needs in terms of efficiency and cost effectiveness. Ensuring:
  • Air and road vehicle operators are complying with the appropriate fatigue management practices
  • Aviation and transport contracts are managed in compliance with contract and safety requirements
  • Oversight of the flight schedules to deliver optimal flight utilisation and travel desk customer service
  • Aerodrome monthly and annual audits are completed with actions closed to maintain compliance with statutory regulations and that the aerodrome is operated in accordance with civil aviation regulations.
  • Ensuring good quality on-site accommodation, recreational and messing delivered through effective management of the camp services contractor to provide consistent good quality food, cleaning and laundry services. Supported through coherent camp maintenance and health and hygiene plans that are managed through effective KPIs to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and delivering a shared site infrastructure and amenities vision and strategy in collaboration with site leadership.
  • Ensuring a high quality of customer service is provided by the Administration section.
  • Owning and managing site infrastructure including offices, access roads, sewage treatment and water reticulation.
  • Supporting and enabling the site based Warehouse functions to deliver on corporate and operational expectations.
  • Establishing, communicating and monitoring quality standards across all areas of accountability and embedding a philosophy of continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree qualifications in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Proven experience in managing remote site, travel, accommodation, warehouses and facilities
  • Tactical and strategic planning skills
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience working in industry with at least 5 years in an operational leadership role
