Job Description

The OpportunityThe Harry J. Enns Wetland Discovery Centre at Oak Hammock Marsh is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Interpretive Centre Specialist who will be responsible for the delivery of wetland education programs to students, public, and educators.Reporting to the Manager of Interpretive Centre Operations, you will conduct workshops to educators and students and create custom promotions for specific programs. You will also assist with coordinating project implementation and regularly communicating with sponsors and community partners. This includes coordinating a student “Caring for our Watersheds” contest and overseeing the Centre’s camp program.You are innovative, creative and welcome the challenge to develop and ensure the delivery of high-quality education programs. You are a flexible, reliable team player willing to pick up other duties as assigned and work evenings and weekends when necessary. Your strong presentation skills will enable you to communicate the value of wetlands and conservation in an interesting and educational way.Your minimum two years directly related experience will make you the ideal candidate for this full-time position, which is located near Stonewall, Manitoba.Requirements

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on education, wildlife/wetland biology, ecology, natural history or related field.
  • Previous experience developing/delivering youth programs and/or educator workshops.
  • Strong communication, project management, time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual platforms.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Enthusiasm for the outdoors, wildlife and environmental conservation.
  • Energetic and love working with children and the public.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle, as travel to various schools may be required.
  • Valid first aid training would be an asset.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, if required.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
