Job Description

The Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community Association (LSAMCA) is seeking an Industry Liaison & Training Officer to enhance the building of relationships with industry and government and to develop and administer training and workforce development opportunities that will enrich the well-being and prosperity of LSAMCA members.About the OrganizationLSAMCA is focused on activities associated with honouring the Lac Ste. Anne Métis Community’s collective history and culture and re-building its collective capacities as stewards of the land and with respect to caring for community members through provision of innovative programs and services.OUR IDEAL CANDIDATEWorking in conjunction with our current staff and contractors, the successful candidate will be responsible for activities in the following areas:Stakeholder Relations

  • Developing and building productive relationships with industry and government that serve to enhance LSAMCA partnerships and connections that are in alignment with the long-term objectives of the community.
  • Acting as a representative of LSAMCA in a public facing role, demonstrating knowledge of and passion for the health and wellbeing of the community.
  • Collaborating with other LSAMCA representatives and staff to maintain collaborative relationships, negotiate new contracts and agreements, and ensure appropriate and timely tracking of community economic benefits.
Business Development
  • Participating in strategic planning activities focused on sustainable community economic development.
  • Advising LSAMCA, as required, approaches to business development that focus on capacity building, fiscal sustainability and alignment with long term community objectives.
Training & Workforce Development
  • Developing and administering training and workforce development projects that will lead to employment for LSAMCA members.
  • Developing, managing and maintaining strategic partnerships with businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, technical institutes, and other key stakeholders that further the vision of LSAMCA with respect to enhancing the capacity of LSAMCA and that of its members.
  • Staying at the forefront of workforce trends and industry best practices to maximize opportunities.
  • Supporting the preparation of grant and funding proposals to relevant agencies, community partners and government departments with a focus on increasing funding for employment and training programs.
  • Administering and monitoring financial expenditures in alignment with current budgets.
Marketing
  • Supporting the development of marketing strategies and communications materials that serve to foster strong, beneficial relationships for the community.
  • Assisting with ensuring that brand standards are consistent and in line with the broader communication objectives of the LSAMCA community.
Educational / Work Experience Requirements:
  • Degree or diploma in business administration, management, commerce, education, natural resources management or another relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting Indigenous communities in developing or enhancing relationships with their industry partners (oil/gas, mining or forestry)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience engaging with adult learners
  • [Desirable but not required] 1 year of experience in a marketing capacity

Additional Requirements
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and Clear Driver’s Abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
  • Proficiency with MS applications, including Excel
  • Knowledge of OH&S Legislation and WCB Regulations
  • Knowledge of legislation pertaining to Indigenous peoples e.g., UNDRIP and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action
*Working Conditions and Remuneration*
  • Full-time, permanent
  • Position is based in our offices in Stony Plain, AB although we are open to having some portion of work performed remotely each week
  • $81,900 - 91,000 per annum, commensurate with experience
  • Health spending account available after 3 months
  • On specific occasions, travel in western Alberta may be required (reimbursed at federal rates)
