  • As per IBEW Collective Agreement.
  • An employee qualified to perform the duties of a Journeyman/woman in trades other than the
electrical trades defined herein
  • General Tradesmen/women shall perform work such as carpentry, painting, brickwork, track
bonding, rigging, automotive, lagging, exploratory diamond drilling, etc. and all types of workwhere skilled Tradesmen/women are required other than those types of work which are normallyperformed by Journeymen/women electrical workers, but may include special welding to electricalequipment in energized stations provided such work is supervised by a qualified electricalJourneyman/woman
  • A General Tradesman/woman may be assisted by a Driver/Helper
  • Employees in these categories will be required to perform work of many kinds but the amount of
work of any kind available is so limited that it would be impracticable to limit one employee to anyone class of work
  • The definitions of the classifications are accordingly indicative only of the qualifications and
duties of the employees concerned.
  • In addition to the above, General Tradesmen/women may be required to install duct
  • Where this work is performed in stations an electrical
  • Journeyman/woman shall be present during installation and they may be called on to take
charge of the crewQualifications:
  • As per IBEW Collective Agreement.
  • BC Trade qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement in Carpentry
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 drivers licence (preference for Class 1 or 3 drivers licence)
  • It would be preferred that the successful candidates have a high level of proficiency in at least
two building trades and a basic understanding of other trades associated with buildingmaintenance
  • Strong commitment to safety, WorkSafeBC requirements and safe working practices
  • Familiarity with Provincial building code, WorkSafeBC and other applicable codes related to
building operation and maintenance
  • Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with employees and internal and external customers.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis position is affiliated with the international Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEWlocal 258) www.ibew258.bc.ca
  • Red Seal endorsement in Carpentry is required
  • This role will assist area crews with more involved PM and capital projects. Work may include
trailering equipment to and from site (manlift, skid steer, snowcat, etc.), operating equipment (skidsteer, crane, snowcat, boat etc.), and possibly acting as Level 3 First Aid.
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 drivers licence would be an asset (or ability to obtain one) to operate trailering
equipment.
  • Position is based in Terrace but will cover Northwest area (Approx. 40% Rupert (FLS and RPG
Generation), 30% Terrace, 30% Telkwa area work breakdown).
  • Significant driving time, 5 hours one-way to reach the furthest station in all types of weather.
  • Approximately 50 - 100+ nights out of town per year.
  • Travel to microwave sites (rough roads) to support MW stations
  • Overtime, work in adjacent areas and travel away from headquarters will be required as needs
arise
  • Certification in Crane and Heavy Equipment Operation as well as Level 3 First Aid would be an
asset.
  • Equipment (bobcat/forklift, crane, lift, boom truck) certifications would be an asset.
  • A General Tradesperson may be assisted by a Driver/Helper
  • This location is eligible for a Remote Incentive of 6%. Remote Incentives are paid bi-weekly to
Full-Time Regular employees working in eligible remote locations.
  • This location is eligible for Extended Health Care Medical Travel Benefit. The Extended Health
Care Medical Travel Benefit is extended to Full-Time Regular, Part-Time Regular and Full-TimeTemporary employees who are permanently working in eligible remote locations.
  • A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain your Class 5 Drivers Licence and
Trade Qualification in good standing.
