Complete a variety of general duties within the manufacturing shop to assist skilled tradespeople enabling them to focus on specialized tasks in a clean and safe working environment. Night Shift consists of working four ten-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday with opportunity for overtime.HOURS OF WORK9pm – 7amRequirementsRESPONSIBILITIESMonitor shop cleanliness, identify potential safety hazards due to untidiness, advise supervisor and clean up accordinglyMaintain compliance with health and safety procedures; inform management on unsafe practicesMaintain garbage and recycling program and prepare for weekly disposalPrioritize and complete all tasks assigned by Manufacturing Manager in a timely mannerComplete a variety of tasks including but not limited to painting, general shop maintenance, assisting with assembly of automated machines, using the forklift to move parts, etc.Receive parts through BOS receiving process and distribute where directedAt times, operate band saw and Blanchard grinder by cutting materials to the correct requirements and grinding plate steel to tolerance.As needed, operate over head crane and forkliftAt times, maintain equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance on saw equipmentBlack oxide/coatingsAssist with deliveries of components and pick-ups of shop materials orderedFollow outsourcing board, prioritized by Manager/SupervisorOther duties as assignedExposure to several trades (Millwright, Electrician, Machinist) and experience in all areas to identify skills and future apprenticeship opportunitiesREQUIREMENTSValid G Driver’s License requiredOSSD or equivalentKnowledge:Knowledge of health and safety and safe operation proceduresUnderstanding of manufacturing environmentSkillsOrganize information/componentsCheck for detail/accuracyAttention to detailTeamworkCommunicating clearly/conciselyAssessing prioritiesAbilitiesLift heavy objects on a regular basisFollow instructions and work independentlySafely operate various hand and power toolsForklift experience and license an asset – Training availableProper load securing for transportThis description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions, it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
