Job Description

Ensure the safe and accurate operation of a band saw and Blanchard grinder by cutting materials to the correct requirements and grinding plate steel to tolerance.RequirementsRESPONSIBILITIESReads and interprets basic blueprintsCompletes daily stock inventory reportsUnload raw materials from trucks and store materialMaintains equipment and ensures work area is cleanPerforms basic preventative maintenance on saw equipmentMonitor shop cleanliness, identify potential safety hazards due to untidiness, advise supervisor and clean up accordinglyMaintain compliance with health and safety procedures; inform management on unsafe practicesContributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as neededOperates over head crane and forkliftEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEOSSD or equivalentForklift Licence – Training AvailableOverhead Crane – Training AvailableValid Class G LicenseKnowledge:Knowledge of health and safety and safe operation proceduresUnderstanding of manufacturing environmentTrade tools, equipment, materials and methods/techniques used in safe band saw operationLock-out/Tag-out proceduresMachine Guarding procedureSkills & AbilitiesOrganize information/componentsCheck for detail/accuracyAttention to detailTeamworkCommunicating clearly/conciselyAssessing prioritiesMechanically inclinedLift heavy objectsFollow instructions and work independentlySafely operate various hand and power toolsThis description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions, it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
