We understand that local knowledge and presence are key to not only our overall business success but the economic success of the communities we work in.Career DetailsJob Title: Junior Mechanical Engineer (EIT)Number of Openings: 1Job Type: Full-Time/PermanentMinimum Level of Education: Bachelor of EngineeringYears of Related Experience: 3-5 YearsOffice Location: Edmonton, ABApplication Deadline: Until FilledPosition SummaryWe are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer EIT with experience in planning and coordinating design details within the context of a multidisciplinary design team and providing technical assistance to clients for mechanical engineering related matters.Other responsibilities include:

  • Reading, interpreting, and developing technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Researching and following client design procedures, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Providing feedback to design engineers on client problems and needs.
  • Displaying an aptitude for learning technical and legislative requirements for pressure systems and equipment.
  • Providing technical customer service.
  • Completing projects under general guidelines, within allotted schedules and budget and with high quality standards.
  • Coordinating activities with other engineers and project team members as required.
  • Inspecting project sites in order to develop new designs and assess existing equipment.
  • Following internal and external quality assurance requirements.
  • Providing feedback regarding the technical aspects of company/client projects to manager or project leader.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 3-5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in an operating facility, manufacturer or consulting firm. Co-op experience will be taken in to account where relevant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • Registered as an EIT with APEGA.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles, and how they can be practically and effectively applied to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian (where applicable)/local Engineering Codes and Standards, OH amp;S code and regulations such as ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII Div. 1, CSA B149, API 12F, API 650 and Alberta Fire Code.
  • Comfortable working in operating industrial facility environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-technical team members in a clear manner.
  • Sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
  • Ability to apply right mathematical methods and formulas to problem solving.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
