Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking a self-directed, client focused, Transmission Line Engineer to join our team!The Transmission Line Engineer, working closely with the Vice President, Technical Services, will lead, mentor and provide strategic direction for activities related to transmission line engineering for a wide range of design and analyses. This includes developing and updating specialized criteria, analysis methods, and completing comprehensive evaluations to coordinate or support the development of detailed structural and line designs for the new construction.Forbes Bros Ltd. has a family-oriented culture that focuses on flexibility, communication, growthamp; respect in the workplace. Key Responsibilities:
  • Take the lead design engineer role and perform a coordinating function on complex and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Provide effective mentoring, supervision, and performance management to a team of professional and technical staff.
  • Assist the VP - Technical Services with strategic assignments.
  • Coordinate or support the development of detailed designs for Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure, including cost estimates, specifications, standards, drawings, materials, inspections, project schedules and completed project analyses
  • Coordination with other groups to ensure that the scope and progress of each project satisfies the requirements of the planning process.
  • Manage and review design work performed by external engineering consultants and provide specialized technical advice to manufacturers, vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain an ongoing positive rapport with stakeholders, establishing work priorities, and maintaining compliance to project schedules.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Graduate in Civil Engineering from a university of recognized standing
  • Membership in good standing with a Canadian professional association
  • Minimum of fifteen years of design experience, including ten years of directly related experience in the development of designs, drawings, standards and specifications for Transmission projects including transmission lines and stations.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of computer software used for structural design including PLS Tower, PLS Cadd, and PLS Pole.
  • Capable of planning, organizing and directing civil engineering work involving a high degree of specialization.
