Job Description

Reporting to the CFO, this role will be responsible for all financial and accounting facets.Responsibilities:

  • Manage/drive the month/quarter and year end close process (preparing/posting journal entries, reviewing reconciliations, etc.)
  • Supervise and manage the Financial Analyst and Jr. Financial Analyst
  • Responsibility for and supervision of staff regarding general ledger activities, journal entries, sales tax, month end reconciliations, accruals, etc to ensure the overall timely completeness and accuracy of the general ledger data and records
  • Assist in supplying information needed for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports including budget vs. actual variance analysis and board and SLT reports
  • Assist the Director of Finance with quarterly review and annual year-end audit process with external auditors.
  • Preparation of compliance support and filing with various regulatory agencies (CRTC, revenue agencies, Stats Can, etc.)
  • Maintaining debt covenants and other compliance obligations
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
  • Special projects, analysis and reconciliations as required.
  • Review and approve commission and bonus calculations monthly.
  • Assist with maintenance and improvement of information and accounting systems.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • Finance designation required (CPA).
  • 5+ years experience (Assistant Controller level or higher or any experienced senior associate coming from public accounting) with a strong knowledge of IFRS standards and reporting including experience implementing changes in standards when required.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong process focused individual with prior experience in driving change to improve accounting operations procedures
  • Prior use of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (or similar sized system) is ideal
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy and willing to roll up your sleeves
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including data sorting, pivot tables, etc
  • This position requires the ability to collaborate cross- functionally to resolve issues and to present, organize, and convey solutions and suggestions within and across other functions
  • Strong teamwork, organizational skills and ability to drive results in a timely manner
