TORONTO, THORNHILL or KITCHENERWSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Planner to join our Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design team, located at our Toronto, Thornhill, or Kitchener offices. Reporting to the Manager, this position will be responsible for supplementing our land use planning group on land development projects in the Greater Toronto Area and across the Province and Country.A Day in The Life….
  • Working with a team on a range of land development projects including residential, retail/commercial, industrial, institutional and utility uses;
  • Preparing reports including Due Diligence, Highest and Best Use, Development Feasibility, and Policy Reviews;
  • Liaising with municipal and agency staff to expedite planning approvals;
  • Managing smaller-scale planning projects;
  • Research and presentation of planning analyses; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
We’d love to hear from you if you have….
  • University degree in Planning;
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a consulting or municipal environment;
  • Registered Professional Planner in the Province of Ontario;
  • Experience with complex land development planning projects comprised of multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Ability to coordinate and synthesize inputs from multiple disciplines;
  • Experience reviewing and responding to comments from municipalities and other approval authorities;
  • Demonstrated understanding of planning legislation and approvals processes in the Province of Ontario;
  • Ability to interpret and guide the preparation of technical plans including plans of subdivision, site plans, condominium plans, building elevations, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information;
  • Public consultation experience;
  • Highly motivated, organized, flexible, enthusiastic team player committed to upholding our reputation for delivering high quality service;
  • Excellent written and oral communication and time management skills; and
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license.
