Our 12 year old son is physically disabled, as well as various mental health conditions, he is considered medically complex. Our son requires shift nursing at home at night. We need one nurse to do every Friday and Saturday night or two RPNs/RNs who can share the position and do every other weekend hours 10 pm-6 am.Edmund has a GJ feeding tube with 11 hours continuous formula feeds into the J port. The G port will be vented with a vent bag. As well Edmund requires medication administration throughout the night, vitals monitored, positioning, monitored for seizure activity. Edmund uses a CPAP machine and is a high risk for vomiting and asphyxiation. Seizure protocol in case of seizure lasting more than 3 minutes. Epilepsy is decently controlled with multiple anti seizure medications.Rate for contract work is $44.43 / hr., if the nurse wants to be an employee then the rate lowers to $37 an hour so accommodate employer source deductions.This position is paid for through the Family Managed Home Care program with the LHIN ( formerly known as CCAC).Pay is weekly on Saturdays, the LHIN just provides the funds. The family manages the nursing, does the hiring/ firing, ect ect.Edmund is a very happy, friendly, curious, intelligent boy. He has Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, OCD, ADHD, compromised airway, GJ tube, wheelchair, walker, can communicate verbally very well.We are happy, easy going family, we have other staff as well. A night nurse for Sunday through Thursday home hours, a PSW for home hours and a couple respite workers. We would love to have another nurse or a couple join Edmunds team.
