Ref# 21PIP002 1 ‑ Full Time ‑ Medical Physicist Medical PhysicsThe Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) is inviting applications for a full time permanent position for a Medical Physicist.The radiation program at has two linear accelerators (Elekta Infinity) and a high dose rate brachytherapy (HDRB) unit (Elekta Flexitron).Planning equipment includes a wide bore Somatom CT simulator (Siemens). Simulation is performed usingMonacoSim (Elekta) and Monaco (Elekta) is the principal planning system. The HDRB planning system is Oncentra(Elekta). The medical physics department includes 4 physicists, two physics assistants, a machinist, and a resident.The department maintains an academic profile with Lakehead University and supports a CAMPEP accreditedresidency program under the auspices of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and in partnership with theradiation treatment program of Health Sciences North in Sudbury.The focus of this position is medical physics as applied to radiation oncology. The successful candidate will beassigned clinical duties that may include: acceptance and commissioning of equipment, quality assurance, treatmentchart checking, physics support for both external beam and brachytherapy procedures, consultation with treatmentplanners and radiation oncologists, physics support for new technique and protocol development, and education ofother staff. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in medical physics and radiation oncologyresearch, seek an academic appointment at Lakehead University and/or the Northern Ontario School of Medicine,and actively support the residency program.EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:* A Ph.D. (preferred) or M.Sc. in Medical Physics, or related discipline, from a recognized university* Membership in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (MCCPM) with a subspecialty of RadiationOncology, or equivalent certification* A minimum two years experience as a medical physicist in a clinical radiation oncology environment is preferred* Demonstrated interest and activity in academics and research* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff in a multidisciplinary health careenvironmentSalary Range: $65.017 to 85.050The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety and security of the patients, visitors, employees and assetsfinancial and otherwise.
