About UsThis position is part of the Regional Resource Information and Analysis Unit for the Southern Region which provides:
  • Regional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services to support regional and district resource management activities
  • Information Management services, including regional and district records management and Freedom of Information, Privacy and Protection Act (FIPPA) leadership and advice
  • Regional resource modelling and analysis to support resource and land use planning needs
  • Leadership for data and information management across the region

  • provide technical leadership for the region in strategic and operational planning for information and information management.
  • provide expert advice, tools, monitoring, auditing and training in support of the implementation of corporate standards and requirements across the region.
  • develop and manage information and information management performance measurement for the region.
  • provide quality control of information holdings through monitoring, auditing, and initiating or recommending corrective measures.
  • represent the region on various divisional, ministry, inter-ministry and information management committees as a participant or leader.
  • identify information, information management and technology opportunities and innovation and recommending solutions to improve business efficiencies.
  • identify training requirements in the region and recommend customized solutions.
How do I qualifyMandatoryCandidate must possess a valid class G drivers licence or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.Leadership and Project Management Skills
  • leadership and project management skills to lead, coordinate, participate in project teams in support of initiatives and program directives; to conduct intricate systems analysis and design, testing, implementation and training
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • proven analytical, problem-solving, and innovation skills to assess and lead development of cost-effective information management solutions that meet client needs and improve program/service delivery
Technical Knowledge
  • knowledge of information management legislation, concepts, policies, procedures and planning processes, including the theory and principles of data architecture, modelling, administration, standards, quality assurance, performance measurement
  • knowledge of theory and principles of systems design and development to lead teams in the analysis and definition of client business and information technology requirements including design, development, implementation and testing of systems and solutions
  • knowledge of information management technology, including hardware, operating systems, networks and applications (databases, GIS products, MNR (or similar) applications, and network systems to provide leadership/support, tools and training to assist staff in effectively managing information
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • demonstrated interpersonal and communications skill, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to provide clear and concise expert advice and support on regional information management and technology needs and solutions
