What does a Security Guard in Thunder Bay do
  • Respond promptly to all incidents of aggression (including patients, visitors, staff, physicians, child apprehensions etc. )
  • Maintain high visibility primarily in the emergency Department. Duties permitting, patrols throughout facility and grounds at sporadic intervals
  • Provide regular support to other guards in the form of regular breaks for meals and washroom visits
  • Will maintain communication with other guards at all times and will remain in the Emergency Department as required
  • Maintain a high level of compliance with respect to confidentiality and privacy act matters as identified under the various TBRHSC and employers polices
  • Maintain certification for NVCI, Mechanical Restraint and FA/CPR training annually or as legislated
  • Maintain professional level of dress and deportment. Wear the prescribed security uniform including slash proof vest
  • Adhere to the hospital and employers Code of Conduct policy
  • Relate with co-workers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner
  • Enforce TBRHSC no-smoking policy
Qualifications to become a Security Guard in Thunder Bay
  • A valid security guard license and first aid card
  • Must have security experience
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, or willingness to obtain
  • Strong customer skills with the ability to act under pressure and provide creative solutions
  • Ability to work effectively with fellow employees and Management
  • Acquired knowledge and ability to use PC based incident reporting and scheduling systems
  • Acquired knowledge and ability to use CCTV equipment, access systems and PC controlled security systems
  • Ability to operate standard firefighting equipment such as pull stations and fire extinguishers
  • Willingness to work irregular hours/shift work
  • Very high level of integrity
