Job Description

Shunt Truck Drivers with Cando at the Resolute Forest Products site in Thunder Bay are responsible for performing the safe and efficient transporting, loading and unloading of trailers. The entire facility and property at Resolute Forest Products is a non-smoking environment. Working in a fast-paced, customer oriented environment, the Shunt Truck Drivers must work well in teams to maximize efficiency and safety, while demonstrating a strong initiative and safety focus.Roles and ResponsibilitiesMove empty and loaded trailers from the loading docks to and from the yard ensuring the proper paperwork goes with each loadLoad and unload trailers using a clamp forkliftComplete physical checks of trailers and vehicles to ensure there are no defectsInspect, clean, and prepare all trailers for outbound loadsFollow rules, special instructions, and handling/loading movements while working on the customer site; ensure compliance with all applicable operating rules, procedures, and regulations imposed by government, the customer, and/or CandoConduct job hazard analysis, report unsafe working conditions, and ensure they are repaired immediatelyComplete paperwork such as daily reports, equipment logs, and shipping documentsParticipate in training or company initiatives as requiredSkills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesPossess strong technical skills, with ability to maneuver, back, park and dock trailersAbility to operate and perform daily maintenance on a clamp forklift including the ability to change clamps and exchange propane cylindersGeneral knowledge of computer systems, business equipment, and shipping documentsDemonstrate initiative to work with others to foster a respectful workplacePhysically fit including the ability to pull self-up and down from truck and forkliftHold and maintain an AZ license; Be able to pass all site required drug and alcohol testing, and be able to obtain site security clearanceEducation & ExperienceMinimum one year experience shunt driving and familiarity with operating a clamp forkliftNote: This description is not intended to limit the assignment of work or be construed as a complete list of the many duties to be performed by the incumbent.
