When picking up supplies, keeps accurate account for costs.Abides by and enforces all Youth Move rules and regulations with respect to staff and teens.Implements safety procedures and ensures standards are met in all phases of Youth Move operations.Assists the Program Coordinator in developing, co-coordinating and implementing Leaders in Training Program and encourage and support those who volunteer in or with the Youth Move Program.Actively encourages the use of the Youth Move Program by teens having a disability.Attends and participates in weekly head staff meetings. Assists with the planning and implementation of monthly meetings for Youth Move Leaders.Plans and attends training sessions. Conducts written evaluations of training sessions and program effectiveness.Updates and develops the Youth Move Manual in co-operation with the Program Coordinator.Develops and maintains positive working relations with other Youth Move Staff as well as with all community contacts.Plans and attends all special events and actively participate in activities.Assists the Program Coordinator upon request in the resolution of the Youth Move Program problems.Works toward developing a positive image of teens in the community by speaking in a positive way about the Youth Move and their activities.Assists in the promotion of the Youth Move Program. Conducts public relations activities, i.e., school visits, and media.Meets with and reports to the Program Supervisor of Children & Youth as required.Compiles photo album of designated area activities with 35 mm camera supplied by the department.Solicits donations when necessary. Keeps accurate account of all requests and donations.Assists in developing a “Youth Move Newsletter” to be mailed to all registered participants.Develops a Specialist’s manual including a daily log, and comprehensive year end report with the guidance of the Youth Move Director.Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:Secondary school diploma;Two years’ recent experience in community recreation programming;Proven leadership experience;Proven leadership experience in area of specialization for example, special events, arts, sports and games, outdoor recreation, nature studies, waterfront and crafts.Skill/Abilities:Verbal and written communications skillsOrganizations skillsAbility to work independentlyResourcefulness and initiativeProblem solving abilityAbility to work in a diverse and dynamic environmentTeam playerCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)Must have a Standard First Aid certificate;Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportationTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Seasonal in nature (May to August);Irregular hours (includes weekends and evening work);35 hours per week.
