VISION:At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honour the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community and internationally for generations to come.ONWA MANDATE:The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) is a not-for-profit organization that empowers and supports Indigenous women and their families in the province of Ontario.ONWA encourages the participation of Indigenous women in the development of Federal, Provincial, Municipal/Local government policies that impact their lives and ensure issues affecting Indigenous women and their families are heard at key government tables.ONWA is committed to providing services that strengthen communities and guarantees the preservation of Indigenous culture, identity, art, language and heritage. Ending violence against Indigenous women and their families and ensuring equal access to justice, education, health, environmental stewardship and economic development, sits at the cornerstone of the organization. ONWA insists on social and cultural well – being for all Indigenous women and their families, so that all women, regardless of tribal heritage may live their best lives.SCOPE:The Systems Administrator will be responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting the ONWA’s networks, security and VoIP phone system. The Systems Administrator will maintain the essentials, such as company servers (active directory), networks, routers, firewalls, phone systems and data backups. They will communicate technical concerns and solutions to many people with varying degrees of technical knowledge, as well as work with individuals in all departments to help solve their technical issues. The Systems Administrator must have a deep and broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, servers and networks.The goal of the Systems Administrator will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of network administration, or system administration experience
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA are preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Experience implementing and supporting VoIP solutions
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Working knowledge and expertise with a variety of software, hardware, and applications
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude. Willingness to solve complicated problems and see projects through to completion
  • Analytical skills to study problems and records and identify solutions
  • Team-oriented attitude to help other colleagues and departments with technical problems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to travel.
  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario “G” class driver’s
  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check.
  • A cellular phone and internet access is required within this position
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
  • ONWA is committed on implementing measures to protect its community members, staff, and other stakeholders from COVID-19. As a result, ONWA has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy. Exemptions will be made for those with a valid medical exemption; proof of the exemption will be required
KEY CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Indigenous Gender-Based Analysis Informed – Understands to incorporate an intersectional approach to gender, race and discrimination and subsequent intergenerational impacts affecting Indigenous women and their families.
  • Trauma-Based Practice Informed – Understands to incorporate a trauma-informed approach to recognize and respond to all forms of trauma and the necessity of supporting Indigenous women in a culture of tradition and safety in her healing journey.
  • She is Wise Leadership Informed – Understands to incorporate the Four Agreements within daily responsibilities and combined with ONWA’s cultural teachings contribute to the empowerment and leadership of Indigenous women within their communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES – SPECIFIC/TECHNICAL:
  • Server maintenance, support and upgrades
  • Systems security design and testing
  • Network design and support, including routers, firewalls, and VPN gateways.
  • Microsoft 365 administration and security for: Azure Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Microsoft 365 License Management
  • VoIP system design, implementation and support
  • Data backup operations, including developing processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
  • Capacity and storage planning
  • Make recommendations for technology upgrades
  • Monitor systems and respond quickly to security breaches or usability concerns
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Train team on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
  • Implement and maintain IT management tools, such as Solarwinds or other similar products
  • Software deployments, upgrades and security patch management
  • Policy and procedure development relating to systems administration
  • On-boarding and off-boarding equipment including managing stocks of equipment and other supplies
  • Some travel required
  • Other duties as assigned
RESPONSIBILITIES – ADMINISTRATIVE:
  • Complete monthly and submit to Manager and/or Director when required.
  • Complete quarterly reports on or before the requested due date.
  • Complete reports to funders as required.
  • Complete and attend supervisions with Manager and/or Director on a regular basis.
  • Other reports or admin as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES – PUBLIC RELATIONS:
  • Promote the program within the community.
  • To adhere to professionalism in representing the organization at all times and maintain good communications.
EXPECTED STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
  • Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as set by the ONWA.
  • Representation on committees as required for the enhancement and benefits of ONWA’s
  • To network and promote ONWA and all ONWA related programs. Maintain good communication.
  • Maintain professionalism at all times.
  • The completion of functions outlined in the description and the achievement of goals set to a high level.
  • Attendance and conduct at work according to the requirements of the Association’s Personnel
